Neither is better - they are different trade-offs. A built-in-coil pod is the simplest thing to reorder. An empty pod costs less to run because the pod body keeps going and you replace only the coil, but you have to buy the coil as a separate item.

Which Replacement Pod Do You Need?

Match the exact model. Brand alone is not enough. Caliburn A2, A2s and A3 take three different pods; Nord 4, 5 and 6 take three more. The model name is printed on the device body.

Check the capacity. Several pods ship in two sizes - a 2 mL and a 3 mL version, for instance - and they are not interchangeable. Check what your device is specified for.

Pick a resistance to suit your e-liquid. Higher resistance, roughly 1.0 ohm and up, gives a tight cigarette-like draw and suits salt nicotine. Lower resistance, around 0.4 to 0.6 ohm, gives more vapour and suits lower-strength freebase.

Getting the Most From a Pod

Prime it. Fill the pod, then wait several minutes before the first puff so the cotton saturates. A dry first fire is the most common reason a brand-new pod tastes burnt.

Expect one to two weeks. That is a normal pod life. Dark, sweetened e-liquids caramelise on the coil and shorten it considerably.

Replace it when flavour dulls - not when it tastes burnt. By the burnt stage the coil has been dry-firing for a while.

Store pods upright and avoid leaving a filled pod in a hot car; heat thins e-liquid and encourages leaking.
