An external charger charges each cell independently, shows status per bay, and cuts off automatically when a cell is full. It also lets you charge spares while you keep vaping, so the device is never out of action. Dual-battery mods in particular benefit, because cells should be kept at matched charge levels.
Match the charger to the cell sizes you use. Most chargers here handle 18650, 20700 and 21700 interchangeably. Choose the bay count by how many cells you own: a two-bay charger suits a single-battery mod with a spare, a four-bay suits dual-battery mods or several devices.
Typically two to four hours for a fully depleted 18650 at a 1A charge rate, longer for higher-capacity 21700 cells. Charging at a lower rate is gentler on the cell and extends its service life, so avoid the fastest setting unless you need the turnaround.
Use a charger with per-bay protection that cuts off at full charge, and do not leave cells charging unattended if you can avoid it. Never charge a cell with a torn wrap or one that has been dropped or runs hot.
